3-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate → Rose Valley → Dades Valley

We will pick you up around 7:00 AM from your Riad in Marrakech. We will head south, crossing the Tizi N’Tichka mountain pass in the High Atlas. We’ll stop for photos and visit a women’s Argan Oil cooperative to learn about its production process and benefits.

Next, we’ll detour to Aït Benhaddou, a fortified town and UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we can have lunch and explore its famous Kasbah. Many films, including Gladiator and The Jewel of the Nile, were filmed here.

After exploring Aït Benhaddou, we’ll continue to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the desert, and then to the palm grove of Skoura and the Rose Valley. By late afternoon, we’ll reach the Dades Valley.

Day 2: Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Tinejdad → Erfoud → Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, we’ll travel along a scenic road lined with traditional adobe Kasbahs. We’ll reach the Todra Gorges, a breathtaking canyon with towering rock walls, a paradise for climbers.

After lunch, we’ll head to the Merzouga Desert and the impressive Erg Chebbi dunes. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy Moroccan mint tea before setting off on a camel caravan to our desert camp.

We’ll stop to watch a magical sunset over the dunes. At the camp, you can climb the nearby dunes to stargaze and watch for shooting stars. After dinner, you will spend the night in the heart of the desert.

Day 3: Merzouga → Alnif → Agdz → Draa Valley → Anti Atlas → Marrakech

We’ll wake up early to watch a breathtaking sunrise over the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. After a camel ride back to the hotel, you’ll enjoy breakfast and have time for a refreshing shower. We’ll then head to Rissani to visit its vibrant market before passing through Tazzarine and the Draa Valley, famous for its lush palm groves and thriving date plantations.

Continuing through the Anti-Atlas and High Atlas mountains, we’ll reach Marrakech by the afternoon. Upon arrival, we’ll transfer you to your accommodation, marking the end of our 3-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.

  • In winter, nights in the desert can be chilly, but our wool tents provide warmth. We recommend bringing a jacket and socks for extra comfort.
  • Entrance fees for optional visits to Ouarzazate and Skoura are as follows: The Cinema Museum costs 30 MAD per person, Kasbah Taourirte is 20 MAD per person, Atlas Cinema Studio and CLA Cinema Studio are both 50 MAD per person, and Amridil Kasbah in Skoura is 20 MAD per person.
  • This is a private desert tour, and you will have your own comfortable AC car. You can adjust any part of the tour to your preference.
  • The camel ride lasts about 30 minutes to 1 hour, but you can choose a 4×4 instead if you prefer not to ride a camel.
  • Your luggage will stay with you and be safe during the tour.
  • Vegetarian meals and dietary restrictions are available, please inform us when booking.
